Trip to Managua

We went to Managua, the Capital (where the airport is located) for some much needed shopping.  We rented a tiny Suzuki Alto & packed it FULL. It's about a 2-3 hour drive,  so we made the most of it. Went to Price Mart (like a Sam's Club) & Sinsa (owned by Ace Hardware)

We got some bulk food items, an high powered fan, awesome toaster oven, some fold-up tables & chairs, good pillows (a necessity) , etc. Our little casa is starting to feel like home now :-)

Also, note the MCDONALD'S PHOTOS...a much needed breakfast stop!! I was SO excited..fast food,  A/C, clean restroom,  ICED COFFEE...made me very happy. NO biscuits,  which was a bummer, only English muffins.  It's so funny that they have Nicaraguan food at McD's...gallo pinto (beans and rice)

Oh, and for lunch,  we had Tip Top (fried chicken & french fries...their ketchup's really weird though, tastes like it has jelly in it). All in all, it was a good day :-)

  2. Well, looks like at least a once-a-month trip for you...if only for a McD's. How much to rent the vehicle? Looking forward to your next posting. Will be talking to our BOE next Saturday about your KH roof.

  3. To rent the car was expensive $54+$24 gas, only because it came from Budget who is new in town. Alamo is usually cheaper about $25 a day but they ran out of cars for that day. It's worth it though to rent a car every now and then, way cheaper than owning one.
