What We Need From States

Hey everyone,

You always wonder what kinds of things are different in other countries...I mean there are just some things that makes you feel at home. Most of us have sold our "comfort" possessions to move to a third world country, so we have little luxuries if any. Of course your doing it for Jehovah, but some things from home just makes it easier.

Problem is the prices for your favorite snacks or beauty product from home can be too ridiculous to justify or not even available. ex 12oz. Jiffy is $8 in San Juan.

Shipping anything to Nicaragua through the postal service is a nightmare if they are expensive items, expats here can get small packages though (if you want our address, message or email me). There is a DHL office in Rivas, but I'm sure shipping would be expensive and any electronics are held in customs in Managua (they make us go there to pick up the package). There is also an International Shipping company that expats use Trans-Express Nicabox, not sure how it works, but seems to be dependable. Anyone who visits us is encouraged to bring an extra carry on or find room in their luggage to bring us some things from home, we are more than willing to cover the cost.

If you can't visit us (although, I hope that is an option for everyone) and want to send us a gift, you can always leave it with Bert and Jeannie. They will hold it for the next visitors to bring. If you are coming to visit us, it is always a good idea to check with Jeannie and see if she has anything.
